Technology in Education ED 270 May 1, 2015 Websites/Standards

There are many hoax websites on the internet that seems credible, or some that are absolutely ridiculous. It is hard to teach our students which are good websites. In order to do that, we need to pay close attention to the details. Look up the author, look up the names involved in the article, and the actual website. Is the logo correct?

Not only students have standards that they have to meet, but teachers as well. We need to promote creativity, personalize (make it applicable to real world), communicate, digital citizenship, and lastly grow. Creativity allows thinking out of the box and it is good for the students to explore their own thinkings, but of course with limits (rules). The strongest lessons are those that we can apply to real life scenario. Teachers need to have a wide range of communication. Students nowadays use social medias and texting. If we can set up a page on Facebook or mass instant text message, then this method would be an easy way to inform our students of an important reminder. As for parents, they grew up with a different sort of technology. Some parents may prefer emails, phone calls, letter, or others. Digital citizenship refers to using technology appropriately to enrich the student’s learning. Teachers needs to grow to become a better teacher by knowing what they need to improve on.
